Perfect 7-Day Paris Itinerary

Explore Paris Like a Pro: The Traveling Professor’s Perfect 7-Day Itinerary

If you’re planning a week in Paris, The Traveling Professor has crafted the ideal itinerary to help you experience the city’s iconic sights, culture, and charm without the stress. Starting your week on a Sunday is recommended, but if your schedule differs, just be sure to check the opening days of museums and attractions. Don’t forget to get the Paris Museum Pass for VIP, no-wait admission and the Navigo Découverte transportation card to zip around Paris with ease.

Day 1: Arrival and Relaxing Seine River Cruise

After your overnight flight from North America, take it easy and unwind with a scenic Seine River Cruise on the Vedettes du Pont Neuf. It’s a perfect way to get a first glimpse of Paris’s beautiful landmarks from the water.  On all of our small group tours, it's always fun to have a river cruise.

Day 2: Île de la Cité and the Musée de l’Orangerie

Head to the historic heart of Paris, Île de la Cité. Visit the Conciergerie and Sainte-Chapelle, then admire the iconic exterior of Notre Dame Cathedral. Later, catch the #27 bus to the Musée de l’Orangerie and if time allows, stroll through the serene Tuileries Gardens.

Day 3: Rodin Museum, Napoleon’s Tomb, and Champs-Élysées

Begin at the tranquil Rodin Museum, which also offers a charming lunch spot. Cross the street to visit Napoleon’s Tomb and the nearby Musée de l’Armée if interested. Then, take the #92 bus to the Arc de Triomphe and finish with a leisurely walk down the famous Champs-Élysées.

Day 4: Versailles and the Eiffel Tower

Visit the magnificent Palace of Versailles, ideally on a Wednesday when crowds are smallest. Afterward, return to Paris and visit the Eiffel Tower — an essential stop for any first-time visitor.

Day 5: Montmartre and Late Night at Musée d’Orsay

Explore the artistic district of Montmartre — visit the Montmartre Cemetery, Moulin Rouge, Sacre-Coeur Basilica, and the charming Place du Tertre. In the evening, enjoy the quieter atmosphere at the Musée d’Orsay, open late a few nights a week.

Day 6: Discover the Marais and Louvre at Night

Spend the day in the vibrant Marais district visiting the Musée Picasso, Musée Carnavalet, and the Pompidou Centre. Don’t miss lunch at L'As du Fallafel, a famous spot for delicious falafel. Cap the day with a night visit to the Louvre, which offers a more peaceful experience on Friday nights.

Day 7: Luxembourg Gardens, Pantheon, and a Market Visit

On your final day, relax in the lovely Luxembourg Gardens and visit the Pantheon. For a local experience, check out the Marché Président Wilson (open Saturdays only, accessible via the #63 bus).
