Founded by Professor Steve Solosky
The Traveling Professor began with a six-month sabbatical in Paris. Steve Solosky, a mathematics professor and experienced traveler, spent that time exploring the city and writing The Traveling Professor’s Guide to Paris. Along the way, he realized that the best travel experiences were rarely about rushing from one famous attraction to the next. They came from staying longer, exploring neighborhoods, using trains and public transportation, discovering local restaurants, and having enough free time to experience a destination on your own terms.
That philosophy became the foundation of The Traveling Professor. Steve and Linda built the company around the way they themselves prefer to travel: smaller groups, carefully chosen hotels, smart itineraries, memorable local experiences, and enough independence to actually enjoy where you are.
Since then, Steve has designed and led tours throughout Europe and beyond. His travel expertise has been featured, quoted, and showcased by Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, WCBS Radio, The New York Times Travel Show, Boston Globe Travel Show, and Philadelphia Inquirer Travel Show. Most recently, Forbes travel columnist Christopher Elliott quoted Steve on travel insurance and airline responsibilities during weather disruptions.
