A Better Way to Travel in Small Groups
Our tours typically include just 10–16 travelers, allowing for personal attention, a comfortable pace, and more meaningful experiences. We balance must-see attractions with authentic local discoveries and time to explore independently.
Whenever practical, we travel by scenic trains and ferries rather than large motorcoaches. We favor centrally located hotels, minimize unnecessary hotel changes, and design itineraries that make the most of each destination.
The result is a more personal and enjoyable alternative to traditional large-group bus tours.
Founded by Professor Steve Solosky
The Traveling Professor began with a six-month sabbatical in Paris. Steve Solosky, a mathematics professor and experienced traveler, spent that time exploring the city and writing The Traveling Professor’s Guide to Paris.
During that experience, Steve discovered that memorable travel wasn't about rushing between attractions. It was about exploring neighborhoods, enjoying local restaurants, traveling by train, and having time to experience a destination at your own pace.
That philosophy became the foundation of The Traveling Professor. Together, Steve and Linda built a company around smaller groups, carefully selected hotels, smart itineraries, memorable experiences, and the freedom to enjoy each destination.
Steve's travel expertise has been featured in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, WCBS Radio, The New York Times Travel Show, Boston Globe Travel Show, and Philadelphia Inquirer Travel Show.
