The Traveling Professor’s Favorite Pizza Spots in Europe

Professor Steve Solosky | 05 Sep, 2025 | Pizza, Italy, Dublin, Oslo, Venice, Florenc | General Travel | View Counts (192) |Return|

When traveling through Europe on one of The Traveling Professor’s small group tours, there are moments when nothing hits the spot like a great pizza. Over the years, The Professor has discovered some of the best pizza restaurants across the continent — from Italy’s iconic slices to surprising finds in cities like Paris, Oslo, and Dublin. Whether you’re after a quick take-away bite or a sit-down meal, these are the pizza spots you’ll want to remember.

Rome: Il Forno Campo de Fiori

No trip to Rome is complete without a stop at Il Forno Campo de Fiori. This take-away-only bakery lets you point to your favorite rectangular slices, which are then wrapped, weighed, and ready to enjoy. The vegetarian zucchini flower pizza is a standout — and worth seconds (or thirds).

Venice: Antico Forno & Pizzeria Grigoris

In Venice’s historic center, Antico Forno near the Rialto Bridge serves an excellent sourdough take-away pizza. But for the very best, hop to the mainland and try Pizzeria Grigoris. We always go here on our small group tours to Italy

Florence: Ciro and Sons

Located in the Santa Maria Novella area, Ciro and Sons offers refined yet approachable pizzas, alongside non-pizza options for everyone in your travel group.

Capri: Aurora Ristorante

On the beautiful island of Capri, Aurora Ristorante serves a Margherita pizza so perfect it may ruin all others for you.

Paris: Chez O’scià Pizzeria Napoletana

In the 2nd Arrondissement, Chez O’scià specializes in authentic Neapolitan pies. The broccoli raab with sausage is a must-try.

Oslo: Baltazar

Baltazar delivers Italian-style pizza with a Nordic twist, plus hearty Italian dishes, making it a great stop for travelers exploring Oslo.

Munich: H’ugo’s Pizza Bar

Known for its vibrant atmosphere, H’ugo’s serves everything from traditional pies to lobster pizza — best paired with a local beer.

Vienna: Riva

A bit outside the tourist center but worth the tram ride, Riva serves high-quality Neapolitan pizza in a relaxed, sit-down setting.

Dublin: DiFontaine’s

For an American twist, DiFontaine’s in the Temple Bar area dishes out massive New York–style pizzas, perfect for a casual bite after sightseeing.

Whether your European travels take you to Italy, Scandinavia, or Ireland, these pizza spots will keep you fueled and happy along the way.
