Why We Think We Run the Best D-Day Normandy Invasion Beaches Tour

Small Group Tours by the Traveling Professor has been running tours to the Normandy Beaches since 2012.   In 2017 we were selected to by The National D-Day Memorial to run their first tour to the Normandy Invasion Beaches

There are a lot of group tour operators running D-Day Tours on the Normandy Beaches.  The ones we know of are reputable and offer a good tour.  However, we think a small group tour of the Normandy Beaches by The Traveling Professor has certain advantages:

Small Group Size:  We travel with 16 travelers at most.  We move around quickly without waiting for the inevitable latecomers found on larger tours.  We can get to more places and go where the big busses cannot get to.  For instance, large busses are not permitted on Easy Red Sector, perhaps the most important landing place on the Omaha Beach.  Big busses cannot get to WN 60, the easternmost enemy fortification on Omaha Beach. We go to both WN 60 and get you right on to Easy Red.   From WN 60 you can see exactly what our heroes faced when landing on the beaches.   These are just two places on our Normandy Invasion Beaches itinerary that should not be missed and we can do it with our small group size.

Expert, Licensed Guides:  Most tour companies employ licensed guides.  But do you know who they will be?  We have been using our guides for over 10 years.  They are engaging and passionate. Not only do they know the facts surrounding June 6 1944, they know how to tell those unforgettable stories of D-Day.   And since we travel with a small group size, they can devote the personal attention to each and every traveler.

Smart Itinerary:  We can do more on the Normandy itinerary because of the places we can access with a small group and without having to wait for larger groups to board a bus.  We see and do more with our well-planned and concise Normandy Invasion Beaches itinerary.

No Kids:  Our tours are for adults only.  Solo travelers are welcome.  Senior travelers are welcome.   Veterans are welcome.

Top Hotels:  We use top hotels located in central Bayeux, the best place to be situated for visiting all 5 Normandy beaches.   After the touring day is over, within walking distance are restaurants, bars, shops, ATM machines and attractions in the city such as the famous Normandy Tapestry and Bayeux Cathedral.

Research:  Do you have a relative or know of someone who served in Operation Overlord?  Prior to the trip, supply our guide with the name and company of the soldier and he will report back to you on his activities during the Normandy campaign.

Custom Services:  Oftentimes we have access to places other guides or big bus tours cannot get to.  For instance, we often visit Hillman Bunker.  It is a privately owned and perfectly preserved German bunker only accessed with special permission and for small groups only.

Customer Service:  Have a question?  We don’t hire inexperienced clerical people or use chatbots to answer questions.  Email or speak with someone who has intimate knowledge of how our tours run.  Responses are usually immediate but always within 24 hours.  Get straight answers to your questions, right away.

Pricing:  Compare our prices to other companies like Beaches of Normandy Tours or Smithsonian.  We don’t charge a registration fee like some others do.  In almost all cases our prices are lower.  We give you the highest quality Normandy DDay tour at a lower price.
